Ukrainian Wrestlers Achieve Success at U23 European Championships

Competing in Serbia, Ukraine has won its first medals at the U23 European Wrestling Championships. Ivan Prymachenko earned a silver medal in the 97 kg weight class, while Viktor Borogan captured a bronze in the 65 kg category. Two other Ukrainian wrestlers, Andrii Shokaliuk (61 kg) and Artur Kostiuk (85 kg), have advanced to the small finals scheduled for March 11, 2026. These championships are a key proving ground for Europe's next generation of wrestling talent.

Additionally, Mykyta Sariiev placed 5th in the 70 kg weight class. These results highlight the progress of Ukrainian athletes in European wrestling, coming after the Ukrainian national team concluded the 2026 Winter Olympics without a medal. Despite that, the team finished in the top ten on eight occasions, demonstrating strong performances across various winter sports disciplines.

Successes across multiple sports demonstrate the broad potential of Ukrainian athletes who are prepared to compete globally, which could positively influence the overall development of sport in Ukraine.
