The Ukrainian patrol police are actively discussing the possibility of allowing citizens to document traffic rule violations. Oleksiy Biloshytskyi, the first deputy head of the Patrol Police Department of Ukraine, talked about this in a column for the publication 'Economic Truth'.
It is planned to introduce a 'penalty points system' for offenders and allow citizens to document traffic rule violations. Additionally, there are plans to introduce a system of penalty points for violating drivers to ensure control over compliance with traffic rules.
More Fines, More Control
Among other radical changes noted by the patrol police is the confiscation of the vehicles of drunk drivers for the benefit of the Armed Forces in case of martial law, fines of up to 51 thousand hryvnias for driving while intoxicated, and lowering the 'non-punishable threshold' for speeding.
'The sense of inevitability of punishment is the best discipline,' emphasized Biloshytskyi.
The police report that the installation of auto-fixation cameras for traffic rule violations has already yielded positive results and helped reduce the number of fatal accidents. Moreover, age restrictions for drivers have already been implemented in Ukraine, and the tests for future drivers have been updated to improve their knowledge of traffic rules.
The Ukrainian patrol police are actively implementing new initiatives to enhance road safety and compliance with traffic rules. The introduction of a 'penalty points system' for offenders, increased fines for drunk drivers, and lowering the speed limit are just part of the radical changes planned for implementation. It is important that such measures contribute to improving adherence to traffic rules and reducing the number of traffic accidents on the country's roads.
