Starting Date for eYasla Childcare Benefit Explained to Ukrainians

Докладно про стартову дату отримання допомоги на догляд за дітьми для українців.

Government eYasla Assistance Program

The eYasla state benefit is designed to support mothers or other legal guardians of children, helping families balance work and childcare responsibilities. Eligibility requires that the person who was actually caring for the child has returned to full-time employment. The rules for granting and paying this state aid to families with children are established by Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Resolution No. 1751 of December 27, 2001, as amended by Resolutions No. 1805 of December 31, 2025, No. 169 of February 5, 2026, and No. 617 of May 15, 2026.

Payments under the eYasla program begin in the month following the child’s first birthday. For example, if a child turns one in May, the benefit will be awarded starting in June. The assistance continues through the month in which the child reaches age three, inclusive. If a family applies for the benefit within six months of becoming eligible, they will receive a lump sum covering each month from the month after the child turned one, but no earlier than January 2026.

Why This Benefit Matters for Families

In summary, the eYasla state benefit serves as a vital tool for families juggling work and childcare responsibilities.

Given today’s economic challenges, government programs that support families are especially critical. The eYasla benefit not only eases the financial burden on parents but also encourages them to re-enter the workforce, which is essential for the country’s economic recovery. Additionally, this initiative may help boost birth rates by enabling families to plan their lives more effectively while combining work and child-rearing.

In addition to the eYasla benefit, there is another significant financial support for families with young children. Ukrainian mothers will receive 8,000 hryvnias monthly for each child aged 1 to 3, enhancing the assistance available during these crucial early years. This program further underscores the government's commitment to alleviating the financial pressures faced by families, allowing parents to focus on both their careers and childcare.
