According to data from the Minfin portal, the Capital market, and the zakaz.ua website, the prices for tomatoes differ significantly between markets and supermarkets. In supermarkets, the average price per kilogram of tomatoes ranges from 63.99 to 120 hryvnias, while in Kyiv markets, red tomatoes can be purchased for 40-45 hryvnias per kilogram, and pink ones cost from 60 to 75 hryvnias per kilogram.
Watermelons and Melons
In supermarkets, watermelons are available in various price categories - from 31.09 to 81 hryvnias per kilogram. At the same time, in Kyiv markets, Ukrainian watermelons can be bought for 10-18 hryvnias per kilogram. As for melons, they cost between 27 and 187 hryvnias per kilogram in supermarkets, whereas at the markets, Ukrainian melons are sold for 27-55 hryvnias per kilogram, and Uzbek melons for 40-55 hryvnias.
The difference in prices for vegetables and fruits at markets and supermarkets highlights the importance of choosing a place to shop for consumers who can save money by selecting one place over another. Ultimately, this can affect customer satisfaction with their purchases and their budget.
