The Ukrainian energy system demonstrated its resilience in the summer of 2025 following attacks from Russia on energy facilities. Deputy Minister of Energy Nikolai Kolysnyk reported that the state successfully coped with these challenges, avoiding electricity shortages and ensuring the normal functioning of the system during peak summer loads.

Despite the hot weather, which usually increases electricity consumption, Ukrainian energy workers were prepared for this due to prior planning. Kolysnyk urged citizens to use electricity rationally during peak load hours.

'The greatest threat to the energy system is new large-scale attacks, but due to rapid damage recovery and the availability of necessary equipment, we manage to avoid outages.'

In addition, preparations are underway for the heating season, with a particular focus on improving the protection of critical facilities, as past events have shown how vulnerable the energy infrastructure is.

To prevent possible problems in the winter period, emphasis is placed on increasing gas reserves in underground storage facilities and diversifying sources of energy resource supplies. This provides the opportunity to import energy during the heating season.

The Ukrainian energy system has shown its readiness to meet challenges and is prepared to ensure stable electricity supply in the future.
