Changes in Visa-Free Regime for Ukrainian Citizens

Thailand has reduced the visa-free stay period for Ukrainian citizens traveling for tourism purposes from 60 to 30 calendar days. This was reported by the Embassy of Ukraine in Thailand on its Facebook page, referring to a decision by the Ministry of Interior of the Kingdom of Thailand. The new rules come into effect on September 15, 2026.

New Rules for Tourists

According to the new rules, Ukrainian citizens entering Thailand without a visa for tourism purposes can stay in the country for no longer than a month. As noted by the Embassy of Ukraine in Thailand:

'According to the decision of the Ministry of Interior of the Kingdom of Thailand, for Ukrainian citizens entitled to visa-free entry to Thailand, the term of visa-free stay for tourism has been reduced from 60 to 30 calendar days.' - Embassy of Ukraine in Thailand

The changes also affect tourists from many other countries, including EU member states and Russia. Thus, the new rules will impact a broader range of travelers planning to visit Thailand in the near future.

The reduction of the visa-free stay period may significantly alter the plans of many tourists, especially those planning extended trips or vacations. This decision is likely related to Thailand's efforts to control the flow of tourists and ensure safety in the country. Ukrainian citizens, like travelers from other countries, must consider the new rules when planning their journeys.

The recent changes in Thailand's visa-free regime for Ukrainian travelers come amid a broader shift in entry requirements for various countries. As travelers adjust to these new regulations, it's important to stay informed about upcoming requirements like the ETIAS approval for entering the EU, which will be mandatory starting late 2026. Understanding these evolving policies can help ensure a smoother travel experience.
