Mobile Number Portability Services Paused in Ukraine
Starting at the end of June 2026, Ukraine will temporarily halt mobile number portability (MNP) services. The system will be unavailable from 8:30 AM on June 29 until 5:30 PM on July 1, 2026. Subscribers will regain access to this feature as of 8:30 AM on July 2, 2026. This pause is part of a scheduled maintenance period that affects all major telecom providers in the country.
Restrictions for Subscribers
During the suspension of number porting, customers will be unable to switch their mobile operator from the following companies:
- Kyivstar PJSC
- VF Ukraine PJSC
- lifecell LLC
- Trimob LLC
- International Telecommunications LLC
- Lycamobile Ukraine LLC
In February 2026, over 80,000 subscribers used the MNP service. lifecell led in net new customer additions, while Kyivstar saw the highest number of customers leaving. Meanwhile, the three largest Ukrainian mobile operators—Kyivstar, Vodafone, and lifecell—have announced price changes for their services. The companies attribute the increases to higher electricity costs for businesses, rising fuel expenses for generators, and the need to invest in network autonomy amid the ongoing war.
The temporary halt of mobile number portability could affect subscriber choices during this period, as they will not be able to change operators. This may create challenges for those planning to switch services. However, once the feature resumes after the short suspension, customers will again have the opportunity to select the most advantageous operator, especially given the recent changes in tariffs and service conditions. At the same time, the price hikes for mobile services could impact the overall competitiveness of operators and their ability to retain subscribers.
