Parents of future first-graders will be able to receive a one-time government assistance this year to prepare their children for school. The «Back to School Package», which started in 2025, will continue in 2026, and the amount will remain unchanged – 5000 UAH for each child.

This was reported by a member of the Parliament's Committee on Education, Science, and Innovations, Roman Gryshchuk.

According to Roman Gryshchuk, the mechanism for providing assistance will not change. The funds are intended for families whose children are going to school for the first time.

The payment can be used to purchase necessary items for first-graders, including:

  • school uniforms;
  • footwear;
  • stationery;
  • other items for preparing for the school year.

The assistance is targeted, so it can only be used for the child's needs.

When to apply for the payment

It is expected that the acceptance of applications through the «Dія» app will begin after July 10. That is when the Ministry of Education and Science will provide the Ministry of Social Policy with information about the number of children starting first grade this year.

The Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity, Denys Ulyutin, reported that the funds are planned to be allocated at the end of July or at the beginning of August, so parents can prepare their children for the start of the school year.

To apply for assistance, you need to:

  • log in to the «Dія» app;
  • go to the «Services» section – «Government Assistance»;
  • select the service «Back to School Package».

Once the application is approved, the money will be transferred to the Dія Card.

What the assistance can be spent on

The government emphasizes that the funds are intended for specific purposes. They cannot be received in cash or transferred to another bank card.

The same rules apply to other government support programs for families with children, including «Baby Package» and «eCrèche». At the same time, compensation instead of the «Baby Package» is not counted as family income when determining other types of social assistance.

It is worth noting that Ukrainian students will receive books added to the Package.
