In Poland, there has been a sharp increase in marriages between Ukrainians and Poles. According to the official statistics from the local GUS, in 2024 alone, 5359 marriages involving Ukrainian citizens were registered in the country, and almost half of them were between Ukrainians and Polish citizens. This dynamic is related to the increasing number of Ukrainians in Poland since the beginning of the full-scale war, as well as adaptation and prolonged stays abroad. Most marriages are contracted between Ukrainian women and Polish men: in 2024, there were 2021 such unions, while Polish women married Ukrainians significantly less often - only 535 times.

Demographers emphasize that the process is predictable: Ukrainians, settling in Poland, are forming families here. A similar situation occurred earlier when many Poles went to work in Western Europe after the country joined the EU; some of them also built personal lives abroad.
How many Ukrainians are in Poland in 2025
According to official data, there are over 1.5 million Ukrainians in Poland, with around a million under temporary protection. A significant portion of refugees are women. Research from the University of Warsaw indicates that Polish women aged 20-29 have the most negative attitudes towards Ukrainian refugees. Among the reasons are jealousy and concerns about competition for Polish men.
