Popularity of short-term deposits among Ukrainian depositors
Ukrainian depositors are increasingly favoring short-term deposits with terms of 3 to 6 months. This is due to a desire for mobility and quick access to funds. In 2023, bank deposits for this term have become the most popular investment tool.
In particular, at Bank Credit Dnipro, over 70% of transactions this year were concluded for 6 months. Ukrgasbank is also showing a trend towards short-term deposits: 52% of all online openings are for deposits with terms of 3-6 months. Furthermore, in the branches of Ukrgasbank, deposits for 6-9 months prevail, accounting for 50% of the total number.
Trends in deposits
At Universal Bank, the situation also confirms this trend: 33.6% of the portfolio consists of annual deposits, while 32.9% are short-term deposits with terms of 3-5 months. This indicates clients' desire to maintain flexibility in financial planning while receiving competitive returns, notes Denys Rakovskyi.
Thus, short-term deposits are becoming increasingly attractive for Ukrainian depositors who seek to optimize their financial decisions in a volatile market.
The growing popularity of short-term deposits among Ukrainian depositors may be related to economic instability and uncertainty in financial markets. Short-term deposits allow investors to quickly respond to changes in the economic environment or personal finances while providing a certain level of income.
This may also indicate depositors' desire to maintain liquidity of their assets, which is an important aspect in current conditions.
