A recent case in the Volyn region highlights this shift: Anastasiia, a Ukrainian who has split her time between Ukraine and Turkey for seven years, visited the Volodymyr branch of the Migration Service. She got married in Turkey, had a child there, and kept her maiden name. Anastasiia frequently returns to Volodymyr, where her mother and sister still live.
During her latest appointment, she arrived with both her young child and her dog—which already had its own passport. While there, she applied for both a domestic ID card and a foreign passport. The Migration Service emphasizes that this reflects its commitment to modern, open, barrier-free, and people-centered service. Anastasiia’s experience shows how family responsibilities and document processing can go hand in hand, even when traveling with a pet.
