Ukrainian Andriy Tkachuk became the world champion in ultramarathon running, winning the competition that took place in France. Tkachuk covered 294.346 km in 24 hours, surpassing his closest competitor by 9 km.
It is worth noting that Tkachuk is the record holder of Ukraine for 24- and 48-hour running, and he is also a veteran of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, having served in the Sich battalion.
Successful participation in the European Youth Olympic Festival helped Ukraine rank 10th in the overall medal standings, with 5 gold, 8 silver, and 10 bronze medals. This result is the second best in the history of the Ukrainian team’s participation in the European Festivals, only surpassed by the performance in 2019 when they managed to win 25 medals.
