Attempted Illegal Border Crossing
A 29-year-old man from the Kyiv region was caught trying to illegally leave Ukraine at the Mohyliv-Podilskyi checkpoint in Vinnytsia Oblast. He posed as a father of multiple children by presenting three birth certificates. According to the documents, he claimed to have a one-year-old son born in Ukraine and two-year-old twins supposedly born in Cyprus. However, the foreign certificates did not meet the required standard, and the man admitted they were forged.
The documents were purchased from an unidentified individual for $15,000 USD. After detecting signs of forgery, border guards denied him passage across the state border. As a result, a notice was sent to the National Police regarding potential criminal offenses under Article 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which covers document forgery.
Organizing Illegal Border Crossings
In a separate case, a 64-year-old resident of Kyiv Oblast was notified of suspicion for orchestrating a scheme to illegally transport men across the border. The suspect charged 18,000 euros for these services. This incident highlights the growing activity of illegal border-crossing operations, which requires heightened vigilance from law enforcement.
This situation underscores the ongoing issue of illegal border crossings in Ukraine. With the increasing number of such cases, authorities must strengthen controls at checkpoints and take steps to prevent these crimes. It is also crucial for the public to be aware of the risks and consequences of participating in such schemes.
The recent case of a 29-year-old man attempting to cross the border with forged documents is not an isolated incident. In fact, another Ukrainian faced legal consequences after trying to escape the country multiple times in a single day. Such occurrences highlight the urgent need for stricter border control measures.
