Alina Bushma has become the bronze medalist of the European Squash Championship held in Budapest, Hungary. This victory is significant as it marks the first medal in this competition for Ukraine's history. Bushma, who ranks 48th in the world ranking, began her tournament path with a 1/16 final match, where she gained a confident victory over a representative from Norway with a score of 11:3, 11:4, 11:2.

Path to the Medal

In the 1/8 final stage, Alina continued her winning streak, defeating her opponent from Germany with a score of 11:6, 11:4, 11:1. In the quarter-finals, Bushma faced another representative from Norway, winning with a score of 7:11, 11:6, 11:4, 11:5. However, in the semi-finals, Alina lost to the Belgian Tinne Gillis, who is the top seed and ninth-ranked player in the world, with a score of 7:11, 8:11, 5:11.

In the match for third place, Bushma was supposed to compete against Melissa Alves from France, but her opponent withdrew, allowing the Ukrainian athlete to receive the bronze medal without a game.

Alina Bushma trains and resides in Philadelphia and received the 3/4 seed for this tournament. Squash will debut at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, adding significance to this victory.
