A Ukrainian woman living in Scotland was asked to confirm her previous travels during crossing the border into Poland. According to her, the border guard could not find some information in the electronic system, so old tickets were needed. This is reported by user chuzhozemka1 on TikTok.

Border check in Poland: why old tickets were requested

The woman flew from Edinburgh to Poznań. During passport control, the border guard took her passport and asked how she returned to the UK from Portuguese Madeira a few months ago.

The Ukrainian explained that she flew by plane. However, she said the official replied that there was no corresponding record in the electronic system. Confirmation was found in her email, although the airline's archive no longer had the tickets.

After this, the border guard asked her to explain another trip: how the family entered the Schengen Zone in early May. At that time, the Ukrainian, along with young children, arrived by ferry from Great Britain to northern Spain.

According to the woman, they underwent control in Spain and submitted their fingerprints. Later, when departing from Toulouse, they received an exit stamp, but she did not have confirmation of her previous entry. This time, she could not find tickets in her email.

The case was specifically about confirming the travel history. Usually, documents for traveling are prepared before departure, but Ukrainians needed materials from previous routes as well.

Travel confirmation: what the Ukrainian woman advises to keep

The check dragged on, the children got tired of waiting and started crying. In the end, the border guard returned their passports and allowed the family to enter Poland.

After that, the Ukrainian decided to keep all available confirmations of border crossings. In her case, the following were useful or could become useful:

  • electronic tickets from previous trips;

  • ferry tickets;

  • letters from carriers with booking confirmations;

  • entry and exit stamps in the passport.

The traveler's account does not imply a new general requirement to carry an archive of tickets. She described her own experience and the advice she made after the additional check.

The reason for the absence of records in the system from her story is unknown. Therefore, this case should be distinguished from the general entry conditions to Poland: it concerns the verification of specific previous trips of one family.
