U.S.-Ukraine Negotiations to Resume

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced the resumption of high-level talks with the United States, with a Ukrainian delegation scheduled to travel to Washington, D.C. The meeting is set for Saturday, March 21. This diplomatic push comes as Ukraine continues to seek robust international backing for its sovereignty and defense. Key members of the Ukrainian delegation will include:

  • Sergiy Kyslytsya
  • Rustem Umerov
  • Kyrylo Budanov
  • David Arakhamia

Zelenskyy emphasized that a prior pause in negotiations is now over, and his team is working to ensure the talks yield substantive results.

"There was a negotiating pause, and it is time to end it. We are doing everything to make the negotiations truly meaningful. The Ukrainian team—the political part of the negotiating group—is already on its way,"
the President stated.

Focus on Security Agreements and International Backing

On the security front, National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov recently visited Middle Eastern nations. Zelenskyy noted that Ukrainian expert teams, deployed to help defend against 'Shahed' drones, are already operating in relevant countries and providing daily progress reports.

"There are specific things they can do to support our country, support our defense—primarily air defense systems,"
he added.

President Zelenskyy also reported on the outcomes of Umerov's trip to key Gulf capitals. "There is an understanding of what new security agreements can be reached with countries in this region," he noted. Furthermore, European Council President António Costa suggested that the European Union should be prepared to take on a greater role in future negotiations with Russia, while expressing support for the diplomatic efforts led by U.S. President Donald Trump.

The revival of talks with the U.S. and intensified engagement with Middle Eastern partners underscore Ukraine's drive to bolster international support for its security. Deploying counter-drone experts and pursuing new regional security agreements could significantly enhance the country's defensive capabilities. The efforts of President Zelenskyy and his team highlight the critical importance of international diplomacy and cooperation with allies in addressing ongoing security challenges. This renewed negotiation activity demonstrates Ukraine's readiness to explore all avenues to ensure its independence and territorial integrity.
