An educational and cultural project, organized by the Embassy of Ukraine in Kenya, has recently taken place in Kenya and Uganda, featuring Ukrainian musicologist Taras Filenko. The initiative included concerts, masterclasses, meetings with young people, and visits to artistic institutions and universities. This project is part of Ukraine's broader effort to build international partnerships through cultural exchange.
Program Details in Kenya and Uganda
In Kenya, Taras Filenko held concerts, masterclasses, and youth meetings. The Kenyan program aimed to promote Ukraine's musical heritage, foster intercultural dialogue, and facilitate professional connections between Ukrainian and Kenyan musicians and educators. All events in Kenya were free and open to the public.
The visit to Uganda featured an intensive cultural schedule. Filenko conducted lectures and presentations at Kyambogo University and Makerere University. The Ugandan program also included visits to leading arts institutions and national heritage sites, as well as meetings with national music ensembles. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine continues to strengthen and develop global partnerships on all continents using the tools of cultural diplomacy.
This cultural-educational project underscores the significance of cultural diplomacy for Ukraine, as it helps deepen relations with African nations and promotes Ukrainian culture abroad. Events focused on sharing expertise and fostering collaboration among musicians can lay the groundwork for future cultural initiatives and the development of stronger international ties.
