'The River Flows' – A New Musical Talisman
The track 'The River Flows' has emerged as a fresh musical safeguard, bringing together the talents of Ukrainian artists. Lyricist Lyudmyla Sovsimova wrote the words, while Pavlo Tabakov composed the music. The performance features Anastasiia Tabakova, a finalist on the Polish version of 'The Voice Kids', alongside the band 'Motanky'. Notably, Pavlo and Anastasiia Tabakova previously released the song 'It's Ukraine!' at the start of the full-scale invasion.
The Band 'Motanky' and Their Achievements
'Motanky' are protégés of Pavlo Tabakov's Creative School, having gained recognition through victories at international competitions, including winning the Grand Prix at 'Gdynia Open' in Poland. The music video for 'The River Flows' was filmed in the Ukrainian Carpathians, near a river and waterfall, which lends the piece a distinctive atmosphere.
The dress worn by Anastasiia Tabakova during her performance is called the 'Tree of Life'. It was created by Ukrainian designer Olha Drozd in collaboration with artist Olena Trofymenko, who is known for her work with the Dior brand. The embroidery on the dress features authentic 17th-century Cossack patterns, and hidden within the embroidered tree are DNA spirals, adding deeper symbolism to the garment.
“Having toured half the world with concerts, I realized that ethnic music is precisely the aesthetic and sound that can make us interesting far beyond Ukraine's borders.”
Pavlo Tabakov
'The River Flows' not only showcases the creative potential of Ukrainian artists but also preserves the richness of national culture through music and embroidery.
This composition is a vivid example of how modern Ukrainian creators use traditional elements to craft new cultural products. 'The River Flows' reflects the current state of Ukrainian music while emphasizing the importance of preserving national identity in the face of globalization. It is significant that such projects receive support and recognition, as they help promote Ukrainian culture on the international stage.
