Ukrainian Players Shine for Their Clubs

Ukrainian basketball talent continues to impress on courts across Europe and beyond, with several athletes delivering strong performances for their professional teams. In recent club action:

  • National team captain Artem Pustovyi helped his club, 'Andorra MoraBank', secure a 94:78 victory over 'Gran Canaria'. In his 19 minutes on court, Pustovyi contributed 13 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, while also recording 4 fouls and 2 turnovers.
  • Playing for 'Buducnost' in the Adriatic League, Oleksandr Kovliar also delivered a solid performance in his team's 75:66 win against 'Subotica'. During his 18 minutes, Kovliar scored 11 points, made 1 assist, and had 3 fouls and 1 turnover.
  • For the Austrian club 'Kapfenberg Bulls', Vitalii Zotov played a key role in a 99:85 triumph over 'St. Pölten'. In a substantial 34-minute outing, Zotov posted 1 point, 2 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, 1 block, 3 fouls, and 2 turnovers.

However, not every Ukrainian player celebrated a win. Denys Lukashov and his team 'Rigas Zelli' suffered an 89:94 defeat to 'Valmiera' in the Latvian Cup. National Team Success on the International Stage

The Ukrainian national squad has also been achieving significant results in crucial qualifiers. The men's team defeated Denmark 88:71 in the qualification tournament for the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup. This performance places Ukraine among the top two teams in its group after two games. The national team also secured a commanding 92:79 win against Georgia.

In the match against Georgia, Oleksandr Kovliar was a standout performer, scoring 31 points over 37 minutes, alongside 6 rebounds and 6 assists.

Other players made vital contributions to the victory, including Oleksandr Lipovyi with 13 points and Viacheslav Bobrov who recorded a double-double of 11 points and 15 rebounds. Artem Pustovyi added 10 points and 5 rebounds. The next qualification window is scheduled for February 2026.
