Ukrainian Women’s Wrestling Success at U17 Worlds

The women’s wrestling competition has wrapped up at the U17 World Championships in Baku, where Ukraine’s team came away with three medals thanks to a group of promising young athletes.

  • Olena Kolubai, competing in the 49 kg division, brought home gold and is also the U17 European champion.
  • Solomiia Petriv, in the 73 kg category, has previously won European U17 and U15 titles and took bronze at the U17 World Championships.
  • Mariia Poltorak, who wrestled at 57 kg, is the U17 European vice-champion and was named Ukraine’s best young athlete for May 2026 by the National Olympic Committee.

Freestyle wrestling events will close out the competition schedule.

“Our congratulations go out to the athletes and their coaches!”
