Eight Medals for Ukrainian Judo Athletes at Tallinn Cup

Ukrainian Judo Success on the International Stage

Between June 5 and 7, Ukrainian judokas claimed eight medals at the Open Continental Cup held in Tallinn, Estonia. The event featured 252 competitors from 33 nations, with 32 athletes representing Ukraine.

Artem Bubyr secured a gold medal in the 90 kg weight class. The silver medalists were:

  • Gagik Martirosyan (66 kg)
  • Ivan Kutenkov (90 kg)
  • Zaur Dunyamaliyev (100 kg)

Bronze medals went to:

  • Denys Tupytskyi (60 kg)
  • Nazar Viskov (66 kg)
  • Mariia Rytska (70 kg)
  • Fedir Yaroshenko (over 100 kg)

Vladyslav Kolobov's Achievement

In addition, Vladyslav Kolobov earned a bronze medal at a Grand Slam tournament held in Astana, Kazakhstan. He achieved this by defeating Russian competitor Yehor Sukhoparov. This was Kolobov's first-ever bronze at a Grand Slam event. In the gold medal match of Kolobov's weight class, Kazakhstan's Zhalgas Kairolla came out on top, defeating Pehlivan.

The medals from the Open Continental Cup highlight the strong performances of Ukrainian judo athletes on the global stage, reaffirming their competitiveness. Furthermore, Kolobov's success at the Grand Slam series underscores the rising level of Ukrainian talent in judo, which could boost their prospects in future competitions and preparation for international events.
