Drone Control Network Destroyed
Ukrainian specialists have successfully destroyed a Mesh communication network used by Russian Shahed attack drones operating from Belarus. Mykhailo Fedorov announced that eliminating this network has significantly improved the defensive capabilities of Kyiv and central Ukraine. While operational details remain classified, the system had enabled drones to penetrate northern regions. This type of network is a modern, resilient system that allows drones to coordinate attacks over long distances.
Defense Ministry advisor Serhiy Beskrestnov explained the network's principle, noting that all drones act as relays for each other, but the group must be connected to Russian operators. Control points for this network were located on Russian territory and within Belarus. These structures resemble standard 70-80 meter tall mobile operator towers or similar installations, fitted with powerful antennas directed toward Ukraine.
Strikes on Military Infrastructure
In a separate action, on the night of February 26, 2026, Ukraine's Defense Forces struck military targets in temporarily occupied Crimea. A P-18 Terek radar station and an RSP-6M2 system in the Dzhankoi area were hit. This followed a series of strikes on February 23 against military objects and logistical hubs in occupied territories, including Crimea and Donbas.
Furthermore, Ukrainian strike systems targeted two strategically important industrial sites within Russia: the Votkinsk Plant and the Neftegorsk Gas Processing Plant. These actions are part of Ukraine's broader effort to degrade the resources used by the enemy in the war and enhance its own defensive posture.
The destruction of the Mesh network highlights Ukraine's proactive measures to counter drone threats, which could substantially reduce the effectiveness of attacks on its territory. The strikes on military targets in Crimea and within Russia demonstrate a strategic approach aimed at crippling critical enemy resources. These developments are likely to influence the future course of the conflict and the strategies employed by both sides.
