Ukrainian cities received 107 new trolleybuses in 2025: the highest since the beginning of the war

У 2025 році 107 нових тролейбусів з’явилися в українських містах: найзначніша поставка з початку військових дій.

Update of the trolleybus fleet in Ukraine

In 2025, Ukrainian cities received 107 new trolleybuses, which is the highest figure since the beginning of the war. However, this volume is still lower compared to purchases from 2014-2021. The basis for this update consisted of 75 new trolleybuses, 66 of which were purchased with the support of international financial organizations. Agreements for their purchase were signed in 2024.

Supply of new trolleybuses

In the market of new trolleybuses in 2025, the factories 'Etalon' and PTS dominated, sharing 90% of the market. Chernihiv received three 'Etalon' trolleybuses, while Chernivtsi got six vehicles from PTS. Kharkiv became the main acquirer of used transport, receiving 26 Škoda trolleybuses as part of the transfer of the entire fleet of Škoda 21Tr models from the city of Brno.

  • In Rivne, four Solaris trolleybuses arrived from Lublin.
  • In Ivano-Frankivsk – one Austrian Gräf & Stift.

In 2025, the supply of new equipment in the occupied territories fell to zero. However, further deliveries are expected in 2026 to Lutsk, Ternopil, Chernivtsi, and Kremenchuk.

The renewal of the trolleybus fleet in Ukraine under wartime conditions demonstrates the gradual recovery of infrastructure and the efforts of local authorities to improve public transport. Despite the fact that procurement volumes remain lower than pre-war indicators, international financial support plays an important role in providing cities with new vehicles. Given the situation in the occupied territories, further deliveries in 2026 may become a significant step in restoring transport infrastructure in Ukraine.
