Ukrainian Defense Forces Strike Occupied Territories and Russia
In the early hours of February 17, Ukrainian forces launched strikes against targets in occupied territories and within Russia itself. These attacks successfully hit the Ilsky Oil Refinery in the Krasnodar region, a major facility with an annual capacity of 6.6 million tons of oil. Additionally, a Russian multi-purpose Ka-27 helicopter was destroyed in Crimea near the settlement of Kamyshly.
Additional Targets and Strategic Objectives
Further strikes were carried out in the Zaporizhzhia region, hitting areas around Rozivka and Liubymivka. In Donetsk and Lydyne, logistics and material supply depots were destroyed. A communications node belonging to Russia's 127th Motor Rifle Division was disabled in Zelenopil. It was also noted that on February 16, three drone control points were struck: one in Russia's Kursk region (Anatoliivka) and two in the occupied part of Zaporizhzhia (Huliaipole, Zatyshshia).
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that its defense forces will continue to systematically implement measures aimed at degrading the combat potential of the Russian aggressor. They emphasized the intent to keep striking facilities that provide command and control for Russian troops, aviation, and drone units. These deep-strike operations are part of a broader strategy to disrupt Russia's military logistics and industrial support for the war.
These Ukrainian strikes demonstrate a focused effort to destroy key infrastructure objects that support Russia's military operations.
The destruction of the oil refinery and other military targets could significantly impact the enemy's ability to conduct combat operations. The ongoing actions by Ukrainian forces, aimed at weakening Russian command structures and logistical capabilities, underscore the strategic goal of ensuring Ukraine's security and sovereignty.
