Ukrainian forces carried out a massive strike on Russian oil refining: destroyed factories and drone warehouses

Українські військові завдали потужного удару по російським нафтопереробним заводам, знищивши виробництва та склади безпілотників.

Strike on Russia's military-economic potential

On December 28, 2023, Ukrainian defense forces carried out a massive strike on the military-economic potential of the Russian Federation, specifically attacking the Svyaztransneft oil refinery in the Samara region. As a result of the attack, strikes by unmanned aerial vehicles were recorded, causing a fire at the plant, which annually processes between 7 and 8.9 million tons of oil.

In addition, Ukrainian units struck several other strategic targets:

  • Hit a storage site for unmanned boats in the Black Sea region in Crimea.
  • Attacked the repair unit of the 1435th motorized rifle regiment near Antratsit in Luhansk region.
  • Destroyed a pontoon crossing near Nikonorivka.
  • Eliminated a storage facility for Shahid drones in Makiivka, Donetsk region.

Additionally, a pipeline for oil products and technological equipment at the Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka plant in the Volgograd region was damaged. The strike with Storm Shadow missiles on the Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery in the Rostov region has been completed. These actions highlight the determination of Ukrainian forces to strike at the critical infrastructure of the enemy.

Activation of Ukraine's military actions

These strikes indicate the activation of military actions by Ukraine aimed at weakening Russia's resource base in the war. The damage to strategic facilities may significantly affect the Russian army's ability to sustain operations on the front, especially during winter conditions when resource supply becomes critically important. Such attacks may also signal new phases in the escalation of the conflict that require further monitoring of the situation from both sides.
