Ukrainian skeleton athletes are preparing for the new season. On November 21 at 10:00, the 40th World Cup season for men's skeleton will start in Kyiv. The competitions will begin on the Olympic track in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, where the first stage will take place. This is an important competition for Ukrainian athletes as it marks the start of the qualification for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic Games.
At the start, athletes from 22 countries are registered, including two Ukrainians: Vladislav Geraskevych and Yaroslav Lavrenyuk. Both athletes have good achievements and intend to fight for Olympic licenses for Ukraine.
Vladislav Geraskevych: 'I hope to represent Ukraine at the Olympic Games for the third time.'
Yaroslav Lavrenyuk: 'This year the goal is two Olympic licenses for our country.'
The qualification selection will last until January 18, 2026. Points earned at the stages of the World Cup, the European Cup, the North American Cup, and the Asian Cup will be taken into account for the distribution of quotas. A total of 25 quotas will be competed for among men to participate in the Olympic Games.
The National Olympic Committee of Ukraine expressed its wishes for Ukrainian skeleton athletes to succeed in the new season and achieve high results. The competitions can be watched on local public TV channels and online at Suspilne Sport's website.
