Ukrainian Athletes Secure Medals at World Cup and Youth Olympic Festival

Ukrainian Athletes Achieve International Success

Ukrainian competitors have earned medals at two major international events: the World Cup for Free Flight Model Aircraft and the European Youth Olympic Festival. The World Cup was held in Lost Hills, USA, from February 6 to 16, 2026, featuring 89 athletes from 15 nations, including a five-member Ukrainian team. The Ukrainian delegation secured three podium finishes at this event:

  • Yurii Hrushkovskyi won gold in the F1A category.
  • Artem Babenko claimed silver in the F1C category.
  • Mykola Kovalenko earned bronze in the F1B category.

In a separate achievement, Ukrainian athletes also competed at the European Youth Olympic Festival, where the nation placed 10th in the overall medal standings. Ukraine has participated in this festival since 1993, with a notable haul of 25 medals in 2019. This year, the Ukrainian medal count was:

  • 5 gold
  • 8 silver
  • 10 bronze
