Ukrainian Women Shine in Canoe Sprint
At the second stop of the Canoe Sprint World Cup, held in Brandenburg, Germany, Ukraine’s athletes Ludmyla Luzan and Ivanna Diachenko secured medals. On the final day of competition, both delivered outstanding performances, earning spots on the podium in their respective events.
Ludmyla Luzan triumphed in the women's C1 200 meters, an Olympic distance, crossing the finish line in 47.70 seconds. She outpaced Canada’s Sophia Jensen by 0.75 seconds to claim victory. This marks Luzan’s second World Cup win this season in the same discipline and distance.
Ivanna Diachenko captured bronze in the women's K1 200 meters with a time of 43.21 seconds. She finished just 0.24 seconds behind China’s Yin Mengdie, the race winner. This medal is Diachenko’s second career World Cup podium finish; last year, she earned silver in the same event in Poznań.
Ukrainian Wrestlers Also Excel
Beyond canoeing, Ukrainian freestyle wrestlers achieved notable results at the U-17 European Championships in Samokov, Bulgaria. The men’s freestyle team collected four medals, finishing fourth overall in the team standings.
