Ukrainian Military Experts Aid Middle East Air Defense

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has detailed the involvement of his country's military specialists in strengthening the air defense systems of Middle Eastern nations, while also announcing new agreements for oil supplies. This outreach demonstrates Ukraine's growing role as a security partner beyond its own conflict with Russia. Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine dispatched a team of top-tier specialists to the region, including experts in interceptor drones and electronic warfare, who participated in live operations to neutralize aerial threats, confirming the effectiveness of their work.

“We sent our military experts to the Middle East, specifically experts in interceptor drones and electronic warfare. We demonstrated to some countries how to work with interceptors. Did we destroy [threats]? Yes, we did. Was it in just one country? No, in several. And this, in my opinion, is a success. This is not a training mission, but support in creating a modern sky protection system that can actually work.”

Zelenskyy added that Ukrainian experts were able to quickly provide recommendations to countries that opened their air defense systems for analysis. “Yes, they shot down Shahed drones. And that is very good. For those countries that opened their air defense system to us, our experts were able to very quickly advise on how to make their system stronger. In some cases, we directly transferred our experience in defense. So in any case, all this had a very positive result, and it adds respect for Ukraine.”

Separately, Ukraine has reached agreements with several Middle Eastern countries regarding the supply of specific annual volumes of oil and oil products. Zelenskyy emphasized that the price for these supplies will be determined according to an established formula.

“Stability in the Middle East will certainly lead to lower prices. Today, there is no alternative to such a volume in the world. We have agreed with some countries in the Middle East that we will be able to have a volume for a year, just in case, if there is a shortage everywhere.”

Positive Outcomes of the Cooperation

Therefore, the participation of Ukrainian military experts in reinforcing Middle Eastern air defenses and the oil supply agreements highlight Ukraine's active foreign policy and its readiness to cooperate with other states on security and energy issues. These steps may contribute to greater regional stability and enhance Ukraine's international standing, particularly amid ongoing global security challenges.

In addition to enhancing air defense capabilities, Ukraine is also expanding its influence in the energy sector. The recent agreements with several Middle Eastern nations on oil supply highlight this strategic partnership.
