Ukraine’s Chaklun Jet Interceptor Drone Unveiled at Istanbul Defense Expo

Новий безпілотник Чаклун для перехоплення загроз було презентовано на виставці оборонних технологій в Стамбулі.

Chaklun Jet Showcased at SAHA 2026

At the SAHA 2026 defense exhibition currently underway in Istanbul, Ukraine presented its turbojet-powered interceptor drone, the Chaklun Jet. Designed as a key component of Ukraine’s defense forces, this system is built to intercept tactical unmanned aerial vehicles at low to medium altitudes. Its primary mission is to counter Russian reconnaissance drones and Geran strike UAVs.

Key Specifications of the Chaklun Jet

The Chaklun Jet boasts impressive technical specs:

  • Maximum speed: 320 km/h
  • Cruising speed: 220 km/h
  • Length: 1.65 meters
  • Wingspan: 1.5 meters
  • Takeoff weight: 10.4 kg
  • Flight endurance: approximately 40 minutes
  • Payload capacity: 1.6 kg
  • Operational ceiling: 6,000 meters
  • System range with RADA radar: 30 km

The drone is launched from a catapult, enhancing its rapid deployment capability.

Control of the Chaklun Jet is managed through the ChaklunLRS command system. It features simultaneous digital video and analog communication channels, allowing for effective real-time aerial oversight. This platform represents a significant advancement in drone technology designed to counter airborne threats.

International counterparts to the Chaklun Jet include the American Roadrunner by Anduril and Coyote by Raytheon, as well as European projects from Rheinmetall and MBDA. In the context of modern warfare, such technologies have become essential to defense systems, and the Chaklun Jet highlights Ukraine’s growing capabilities in this field.

The debut of the Chaklun Jet at SAHA 2026 underscores Ukraine’s expanding role in unmanned systems and its ability to address contemporary threats. The development of this interceptor drone is a critical response to the challenges posed by military drone usage and could significantly enhance the effectiveness of Ukraine’s defense forces.

In addition to the unveiling of the Chaklun Jet, Ukraine has recently made significant strides in its aerial defense capabilities, as evidenced by its first successful air-launched drone kill. This achievement not only highlights the effectiveness of Ukraine's evolving drone technology but also underscores the urgent need for advanced systems to counter aerial threats.
