Ukrainian judoka Anton Savitsky claimed the bronze medal at the Grand Prix stage in Mexico, in the weight category up to 100 kg. In the first match, he defeated an opponent from Great Britain, then lost to a Canadian in the quarter-finals, but managed to win against a judoka from the Czech Republic and secured the bronze by defeating an Italian.
Ukrainian athletes continue to delight with victories: besides Savitsky, Evgeny Balyavsky (over 100 kg) and Mykhailo Svidrak (up to 81 kg) also made it to the podium. The Ukrainian team won 5 gold, 8 silver, and 10 bronze medals at the European Youth Olympic Festival, finishing 10th in the overall standings. This is one of the most successful performances of the team in the history of these competitions since 2019.
