Nazar Chepurny's Competitive Roadmap for 2026
Ukrainian gymnast Nazar Chepurny has outlined his ambitions for the upcoming major competitions, specifically the 2026 European and World Championships. He confirmed that he is targeting podium finishes at both events, with the ultimate goal of winning gold in his specialty event, the vault. Chepurny acknowledged the strength of his rivals but emphasized his readiness for intense preparation.
European and World Championships
The 2026 European Artistic Gymnastics Championships are scheduled to take place at Arena Zagreb in Croatia from August 19 to 23. For the first time in history, this tournament will feature a prize fund of €150,000. Later in the year, the 2026 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships will be held in Hong Kong from October 17 to 25.
Nazar Chepurny was recently named the best athlete of February 2026 by the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, following his victory at the World Cup stage in Cottbus, Germany, on vault. He also secured the overall World Cup 2026 title in vault after competing in three of the five season stages. His medal tally from the 2026 World Cup stages includes:
- Gold in Cottbus
- Gold in Baku
- Bronze in Doha
Chepurny's personal coach, Hennadii Sartynskyi, also earned recognition as the coach of the month. Chepurny stressed that his primary objectives for 2026 are the European and World Championships, and he is determined to put up a strong fight.
