Pilot Program 'Funding Follows the Teacher' Launched
A new pilot initiative in Ukraine, titled 'Funding Follows the Teacher,' is now offering financial support for educators' professional growth. This program provides a grant of 1500 hryvnias to each participant for professional development courses. This initiative is part of broader efforts to modernize Ukraine's education system following the full-scale invasion. Enrollment is capped, with funding allocated only to the first 100,000 teachers who successfully apply.
Program Participation Requirements
To join the program, teachers must complete mandatory registration by creating a profile on the state platform 'Vector' and activating a personal account. Profile verification via id.gov.ua or BankID is a mandatory prerequisite for application submission. The application window opens on February 16, with confirmation of participation and the crediting of virtual funds scheduled to be completed by March 16.
Training for selected programs will commence on March 16 and continue through the end of November 2026. It is crucial to note that the allocated funds are strictly designated for paying for educational services. Using the grant for groceries, utilities, or transportation is expressly prohibited. The core goal of this initiative is to enhance teacher qualifications and, consequently, improve the overall quality of education across Ukraine.
The launch of the 'Funding Follows the Teacher' program reflects the Ukrainian government's commitment to supporting the educational sector and advancing teacher skills during a period of national challenge.
Measures aimed at developing teachers' professional skills have the potential to positively influence educational quality and elevate student learning outcomes. It is vital for as many educators as possible to seize this opportunity for their own professional advancement amidst the current demands on Ukraine's school system.
