The Ewald von Kleist Award

At the Munich Security Conference, the Ukrainian people were presented with the prestigious Ewald von Kleist Award. The award ceremony took place on February 14, 2026, in the Imperial Hall of the Munich Residence. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accepted the honor on behalf of Ukrainians. This award, established in 2009, is named for the conference's founder, Ewald von Kleist, a German officer who participated in the resistance movement against Hitler.

In his acceptance speech, President Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for this recognition of the Ukrainian people, stating:

“Thank you for this award for the Ukrainian people – an award for Ukrainian strength and our friendship. Friendship with each one of you. Without friendship, strength is never enough. That is precisely why Ukraine works so persistently to build at least mutual understanding, mutual respect, and fair treatment with everyone. At the very least. And even better – true friendship.”
- Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Meeting with the Prime Minister of North Macedonia

The following day, on February 15, 2026, Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Hristijan Mickoski. During their talks, the parties discussed the situation on the front lines, the consequences of ballistic attacks by the Russian Federation, and matters related to the PURL program. These discussions underscore the critical importance of international cooperation in the face of ongoing security challenges.

The Ukrainian President's receipt of the Ewald von Kleist Award symbolizes a profound international recognition of the Ukrainian people's struggle for freedom and independence. This honor highlights the vital support Ukraine continues to receive from the global community. The meeting with North Macedonia's Prime Minister further demonstrates Ukraine's active engagement in international diplomacy and joint efforts to counter aggression, which are crucial for strengthening regional stability. The Munich Security Conference serves as a key global forum for addressing such geopolitical crises.
