Dmytro Khilyuk, a journalist who recently returned from Russian captivity, recounted the absurd situation he found himself in after his release. Due to the installation of the 'Reserve+' program, he learned that he was being sought as a 'draft evader' for not updating his information by the specified date in 2024.
While in captivity, Khilyuk was unable to monitor legislative changes. Therefore, upon returning home, he faced a critical situation where he could be detained according to the letter of the law. However, the event had a happy ending, and the journalist was removed from the wanted list.
After Khilyuk's return, he undergoes a medical examination due to problems with blood pressure and pulse that arose during his imprisonment. He is also provided with psychiatric consultation. The journalist's personal life was disrupted in April 2022 when he was kidnapped by Russian soldiers. Initially, he was held in occupied territory and then transferred to Russia.
Regarding his experiences in captivity, he said: 'The hardest part was the feeling of vacuum - a complete lack of any information. Not only about Ukraine but about everything in general.'
