The installation Black Cloud, created for the Burning Man festival in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada (USA), was destroyed by a powerful storm almost immediately after its setup. This was reported by one of the project's co-authors, Vitaliy Deynega, on his Facebook page.
“Today was the first and last day of the 'Black Cloud' at Burning Man,” he wrote.
The installation's assembly lasted throughout the night, but the storm destroyed everything almost instantly. Deynega recounted that after successfully completing all critical stages, the storm suddenly demolished the installation.
According to the project's co-author, this natural disaster led to the complete destruction of the 'Black Cloud.' Nevertheless, according to Deynega's accounts, there are plans to preserve the project for a subsequent European tour, as confirmed locations and dates already exist.
Another creation at Burning Man
At the Burning Man festival, which is held annually in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada, participants create a variety of artworks. The organizers describe the event as an experiment in radical self-expression and community. One of the symbolic moments is the burning of a massive wooden statue of a man on the last day of the festival.
The themes of the festival change every year, and Ukraine regularly participates, showcasing its creations. For example, in 2023, a military memorial made of anti-tank hedgehogs called 'Hedgehog Temple' was presented. In 2024, the sculpture for the festival was also created by Ukrainian artist Oleksiy Sai.
A powerful storm almost instantly destroyed the Black Cloud installation during the Burning Man festival in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada. Although the piece was impossible to save, plans are in place for its preservation for a subsequent European tour.
