Ukrainian potatoes cannot enter the EU: what blocks exports

Even with a great potential for growing potatoes and a stable domestic demand, Ukrainian agricultural producers cannot enter the EU markets due to the lack of phytosanitary certificates. The lack of export opportunities leads to a sharp reduction in potato cultivation in Ukraine. Experts recommend considering alternative markets such as the Balkan countries or Georgia; however, they cannot fully replace the European market due to its high competition. Bureaucratic obstacles, protectionism, and the lack of government support complicate the situation in the Ukrainian potato industry, hindering its development beyond the domestic market.
