Today, Ukrainians woke up to the first snow of December in several regions. Charming pictures of candles covered the Carpathians, Cherkasy, Sumy, Chernihiv, as well as the occupied Luhansk. In the highlands of the Carpathians, for example, a white blanket has already settled.

Atmospheric photos from mountain rescuer Vasyl Fitsak show how winter has already taken hold in the Carpathians. Fog, snow, and a full moon – all of this can be seen in the valley of Chornogora and at the top of Pip Ivan. Even the ruins of the Polish astronomical-meteorological observatory 'Bily Slon' have received their snowy refreshment.

Besides the Carpathians, snow has also fallen in Druzhba of the Zolotonosha district of Cherkasy region, in the Shostka district of Sumy region, and in Pryluky of Chernihiv region. Due to light snowfalls, moderate snow may begin in Chernihiv, Sumy, and other eastern regions. Rain and possible fog are also forecasted in the western and southern parts of the country. The air temperature will be between 0 and 5°C, but in the west and south it may rise to 9°C.

And here’s a reminder: today, December 9, most regions are under the influence of a cloudy and humid cyclone. So get ready for a winter atmosphere!
