Energy Lending Statistics in Ukraine

Between June 2024 and April 2026, lending data for Ukraine's energy sector reveals substantial investment in projects aimed at building, reconstructing, and restoring energy infrastructure. Total funding reached UAH 45.9 billion, spanning 21 regions across the country.

These investments covered:

  • Generation projects with a capacity of 1.636 GW;
  • Electricity storage initiatives;
  • Heat supply and modernization of thermal equipment totaling 682 MW of capacity.

A key detail is that over 4,000 loans were issued to businesses, amounting to UAH 42.9 billion, while more than 16,500 loans worth UAH 3.0 billion were provided to households.

By the end of April 2026, the gross energy loan portfolio for corporate clients stood at UAH 28.5 billion, and for individuals at UAH 2.3 billion. These figures highlight active support for the growth of Ukraine's energy sector.

Why Energy Infrastructure Investments Matter

Investments in energy infrastructure are critical for strengthening national energy security, especially amid global challenges and climate change. The surge in lending to both businesses and households reflects growing confidence in the energy sector and its potential for future expansion.

Rebuilding and upgrading infrastructure can boost energy efficiency while also generating new jobs in regions receiving funding.

In addition to the substantial loans provided to the energy sector, the Ukrainian government is also making significant investments to enhance the resilience of its power grid. Recently, $12.85 billion has been allocated to protect energy infrastructure, which underscores the urgent need for a robust energy framework in the face of ongoing challenges. This dual approach of financing both infrastructure projects and grid protection is pivotal for ensuring a sustainable energy future for Ukraine.
