The situation with power supply in Ukraine
Ukrenergo reports that three stages of electricity outages will continue in most regions of Ukraine until the end of the week. The chairman of the company, Vitaliy Zaichenko, noted that this could lead to up to 12 hours without electricity per day. In particular, on December 9, emergency outages were implemented in the Kharkiv, Sumy, and Poltava regions.
Emergency outages were introduced in response to Russia's attack on an energy facility in the Sumy region. Vitaliy Zaichenko pointed out that the main reason for these measures is a combination of unfavorable circumstances, such as emergency generation shutdowns and depletion of resources to sustain further generation at hydropower plants.
'Three stages of hourly outage schedules are what we can expect,' said Vitaliy Zaichenko.
The situation with power supply remains complicated, and Ukrenergo will continue monitoring the circumstances to ensure the stable operation of the energy system.
The need for urgent measures
The situation with power supply in Ukraine is a result of not only military actions but also internal problems in the energy system. Emergency power outages have become common, indicating the need for urgent measures to strengthen the energy infrastructure and increase its resilience to external threats.
Further monitoring and adaptation of outage schedules can help mitigate the negative consequences for the population and industry.
