Emergency power outages in Ukraine

Ukrenergo has introduced emergency power outages in Ukraine due to the consequences of Russia's shelling. As of December 29, 2023, 215 settlements have been de-energized, and about 9 thousand subscribers remain without electricity in Kyiv region. The reasons for these measures are related to eliminating the consequences of a massive missile and drone attack on energy facilities in Kyiv and the region.

Situation with electricity supply

During the three months of autumn, 8 thousand megawatts of generation were damaged, significantly affecting the stability of electricity supply. By December, about half of the damaged capacity has already been restored. However, the situation in the capital agglomeration remains extremely difficult. To stabilize the situation with electricity in Kyiv and the region, at least two to three days will be needed.

Experts note that Ukraine needs about two months to return to operation without power outages. This indicates the seriousness of the situation with electricity supply and the necessity of further efforts to restore the energy infrastructure.

Power outages in Ukraine, particularly in the Kyiv region, highlight the critical situation in the energy sector, caused not only by physical destruction but also by the need for urgent restoration of supply. Under the ongoing aggression of Russia and constant attacks on energy facilities, restoring the energy infrastructure becomes a priority for the state. The consequences of these attacks may affect the lives of the population, so it is important for the relevant services to respond promptly to the situation and take measures to stabilize electricity supply.
