Hourly Power Outage Schedules in Ukraine
The company 'Ukrenergo' has introduced hourly power outage schedules in Ukraine starting from December 10, 2023. This decision was made as a result of Russian missile and drone attacks that have damaged energy facilities in the country. The Ukrainian authorities plan to reduce the duration of outages for residential consumers and also optimize electricity consumption.
Currently, there are three phases of hourly power outage schedules in Ukraine. Representatives of 'Ukrenergo' note that when electricity is available according to the schedule, consumers can plan their usage. The cost of electricity with the night tariff, which is in effect from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, is 2.16 UAH per kWh. For owners of two-zone meters, savings may range from 130 to 648 UAH per month.
Recommendations for Consumers
Consumers are advised to:
- install two-zone meters;
- use smart sockets for more efficient electricity usage;
- turn on lighting only in rooms where people are present to reduce energy consumption.
The introduction of hourly power outage schedules is an important step towards stabilizing Ukraine's energy system after numerous attacks on infrastructure. This decision not only allows better planning of electricity consumption but can also help reduce the load on the grid, especially during peak hours. In the context of the military conflict, optimizing energy consumption becomes an important aspect of maintaining the stability of the country's energy sector.
