Ukrainian postal users should prepare for an increase in delivery tariffs for parcels sent via 'Ukrposhta' to the United States. This information was announced by the company's press service, and the changes will involve an increase in cost from $1.5 to $3, depending on the category and weight of the shipment.
From August 29, the USA is abolishing the de minimis rule, which allowed parcels worth up to $800 to cross the border without additional customs charges. Because of this, many European postal services have temporarily suspended sending parcels to America. However, 'Ukrposhta' states that Ukrainian sellers will be able to continue sending orders to the USA without obstacles.
In particular, Ukrainian goods will become 10% more expensive for Americans due to the introduced duty. Shipping will also become more expensive, but only to cover the costs of customs documentation.
- The 10% duty on Ukrainian goods is the lowest among European countries, creating competitive advantages for Ukrainian exporters.
The new regulations do not apply to letters, newspapers, postcards, and gift parcels worth up to $100. Private companies in the USA are introducing new fees and increasing existing ones, but 'Ukrposhta' will not impose additional costs on clients.
'The US customs is tightening control, so exporters need to indicate the real value of the goods when filling out the shipment,' noted 'Ukrposhta'.
Postal tariffs for delivery to the USA via 'Ukrposhta' will rise as the country abolishes the de minimis rule for parcels. This will result in increased costs for Ukrainian exporters and American buyers, but 'Ukrposhta' states that it will not impose additional costs on clients.
