Ukrzaliznytsia continues to update its passenger fleet before the end of the summer season. In 2026, the carrier has already received 28 new carriages of Ukrainian production, and four compartment and SВ carriages have been put into service on the international route Hlum - Kyiv. By the end of the year, the fleet is expected to be supplemented with another 32 carriages. This was reported by Ukrzaliznytsia.
Which trains of Ukrzaliznytsia received new carriages in August 2026
Another four new carriages of the compartment and SВ categories were included in the international train No. 24/23 Hlum - Kyiv. Thus, the carrier is increasing the number of modern seats on the popular route between Poland and Ukraine.
The new carriages are equipped with high-capacity battery systems. They allow the air conditioning to function even during long stops of the train, especially during border procedures.
The carriages are also equipped with vacuum toilets and additional conveniences for children. Ukrzaliznytsia notes that the equipment is intended to make international journeys more comfortable, especially for families with small children.
The introduction of new carriages into service fell in the last peak week of summer, when the demand for train tickets traditionally increases. The carrier hopes to thereby increase the available number of seats.
How many new carriages will Ukrzaliznytsia receive by the end of 2026
Since the beginning of 2026, Ukrzaliznytsia has already received 28 new passenger carriages. The company emphasizes that all of them were manufactured in Ukraine during the full-scale war.
The modernization of the rolling stock will not stop there. By the end of 2026, the carrier expects to receive another 32 new carriages.
Thus, if the planned deliveries are fulfilled, the total number of new carriages received during the year will reach 60 units. Some of them will be used to strengthen routes with high passenger traffic.
The new carriages are expected to gradually increase the supply of seats while at the same time improving travel conditions. The ability to maintain the operation of climate control equipment during long stops at the border is particularly important for international routes.
