Ukrzaliznytsia transfers trains to diesel locomotives due to power outages in Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions

В умовах обмежень електричної енергії Укрзалізниця переходить на дизельні локомотиви в Дніпропетровській та Запорізькій областях.

Ukrzaliznytsia's Response to Power Outages

Ukrzaliznytsia, together with the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine, is responding to the power outages in Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions by transferring trains to backup thermal traction. This decision was made following the complete power shutdown in Dnipro on the evening of January 7, as well as disruptions in electricity, water, and heating that were recorded in Zaporizhzhia, Kryvyi Rih, Pavlohrad, and Synelnykove.

Train Services with Backup Thermal Traction

In this regard, the trains that will operate under backup diesel locomotives include:

  • #734 Kyiv – Dnipro
  • #37 Zaporizhzhia – Kyiv
  • #119 Dnipro – Kholm
  • #79 Dnipro – Lviv

It is important to note that the Dnipro City Express trains will operate as scheduled tomorrow using thermal traction. This decision aims to ensure uninterrupted transportation connections in regions affected by power outages.

Ensuring uninterrupted transportation connections during energy crises is an important step in supporting the livelihoods of regions affected by power cuts. The implementation of backup thermal traction will help maintain the mobility of passengers and goods in situations where electrical systems are not functioning properly. This decision also highlights the importance of adapting transportation infrastructure to the changing conditions arising from energy problems in the country.
