Expansion of internet access on Ukrzaliznytsia trains
Ukrzaliznytsia is expanding internet access on its trains, particularly on train Hutsulshchyna No. 95/96, which runs on the route Kyiv - Rakhiv. As part of this pilot project, passengers will have the opportunity to use 10 minutes of free internet access. For those who wish to continue using the service, a full daily tariff of 120 UAH is offered.
Technologies and payment for services
Internet on trains is provided using Starlink technology, which ensures stable connectivity during travel. Payment for services is available through payment cards and also via mobile applications Apple Pay and Google Pay. This project is being implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Community Development and Territories.
As a reminder, in September 2025, Ukrzaliznytsia already launched Wi-Fi in Intercity and Intercity+ trains. Currently, 10 Hyundai trains, two Skoda trains, two Tarpan trains, and two trains with MPLT carriages are equipped with free internet.
It is also important to mention that Ukraine officially joined the EU roaming zone 'Roaming as at home', allowing Ukrainians from January 1, 2026, to use their mobile tariffs abroad without additional roaming costs.
The expansion of internet access on Ukrzaliznytsia trains is an important step in improving the quality of passenger transportation and ensuring comfortable conditions for travel. The implementation of Starlink technology will contribute to stable connectivity, which is especially relevant for those traveling within Ukraine. Given the growing demand for digital services, the development of internet connectivity infrastructure in transport may become a significant factor in attracting more passengers to railway routes.
