Restoration of the ER9T electric train in Chernihiv region
The upgraded ER9T electric train, restored by 'Ukrzaliznytsia' in 2025, has started operating in Chernihiv region. This electric train, produced in 1988, became the 12th in the list of restored trains by the company this year. It is noted that this electric train is the 48th restored since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Features of modernization
The modernization of the electric train took place at the Kyiv Electric Rolling Stock Repair Plant. The upgraded ER9T electric train is equipped with:
- inclusive space
- modern design
- charging sockets for gadgets
- changing tables
- special places for transporting bicycles
The average daily number of passengers using suburban transport in Chernihiv region is about 100,000.
It is expected that the program for updating electric trains will continue in 2026, which will allow for an improvement in the quality of passenger transport in the region and provide more comfortable conditions for travelers.
