Ukrzaliznytsia Adds More Trains
In response to rising passenger demand, Ukrzaliznytsia, Ukraine's state railway operator, has announced a significant expansion of its services scheduled for late March and early April. This expansion is a common practice to accommodate increased travel during seasonal shifts. Specifically, from March 29, additional trains will be introduced on key domestic routes, including:
- Train #220/219 Kyiv – Dnipro
- Train #289/290 Kyiv – Lviv
- Train #168/167 Lviv – Odesa
Furthermore, train #243/244 between Kyiv and Lviv will also operate on March 30 and 31.
Route Extensions and New Services
Starting April 2, the route for train #207/208–177/178 from Kyiv to Ivano-Frankivsk will be extended to the Yaremche station. Departure from Kyiv is scheduled for 22:00, with arrival in Yaremche at 08:30. The return service will depart Yaremche at 09:00, arriving in the capital at 19:54. This will be a daily service, except on days scheduled for track maintenance: April 5, 6, 7, 20, 21, and 22.
Beyond these intercity changes, Ukrzaliznytsia has also adjusted the schedules for certain regional trains in the Ternopil, Lviv, Sumy, and Poltava regions. The railway is also enhancing the passenger experience by introducing new onboard amenities. Passengers can now pre-order meals, drinks, sweets, books, and even dog treats when purchasing their tickets. It is important to note that as of March 1, the price for a set of bed linen in sleeper and couchette cars has increased to 95 hryvnias, up from the previous price of 80 hryvnias.
Additionally, a regional train, #812/811, will operate between Yaremche and Vorokhta in April. Departure from Yaremche is set for 08:50, arriving in Vorokhta at 09:24. The return trip departs Vorokhta at 07:32, arriving in Yaremche at 08:10. This train will run on the following dates in April: 3–5, 9–12, 19, and 27–29.
The increase in train frequency and schedule adjustments demonstrates Ukrzaliznytsia's commitment to meeting the growing demand for rail travel in Ukraine.
This service expansion likely aligns with seasonal trends, such as a rise in spring tourism. The introduction of convenient services like pre-ordering food with tickets further highlights the company's efforts to improve journey comfort for all passengers.
As Ukrzaliznytsia enhances its services with new routes and improved amenities, it is also implementing revised commuter train schedules across various regions.
