Changes in tariffs and ticket refund policies from Ukrzaliznytsia
Ukrzaliznytsia, together with the Ministry of Development, has prepared a draft of changes concerning dynamic pricing for premium segment tickets and an update of refund rules for all types of carriages. The changes, which will come into effect soon, will affect tariffs in SV (luxury) and first-class carriages of Intercity trains operating within Ukraine.
According to the new terms, tariffs for travel in SV (luxury) carriages of international trains will increase by approximately 20%. This decision was made to adapt prices to market conditions and improve the quality of passenger service. Meanwhile, Ukrzaliznytsia is also introducing new ticket refund rules that will apply to all categories of carriages.
Ticket refund policies
According to the new refund conditions, if a passenger decides to return a ticket 15-20 days before the train's departure, the funds will be fully refunded. If the return occurs 10-14 days prior, 90% of the ticket price will be refunded. For 5-9 days before departure, the passenger will receive back 75% of the price, and in the period from 1 to 4 days - only 50%. If a return is made less than 24 hours before departure, on average 30% of the travel cost will be refunded.
In addition to these changes, it is worth noting that Ukrainians have issued over 170 thousand free tickets under the program 3000 km across Ukraine, with a total travel distance of about 80 million km. Also, employees of Ukrzaliznytsia who are involved in eliminating the consequences of Russian attacks will receive an additional 20,000 UAH per month until the end of the heating season. These measures are aimed at improving service for passengers and supporting company employees during a difficult time for the country.
The implemented changes in tariffs and ticket refund policies underscore Ukrzaliznytsia's commitment to adapt to new economic realities and enhance the quality of passenger service.
The introduction of dynamic pricing may be a response to changes in travel demand, especially in the premium segment. Additional payments to company employees also reflect Ukrzaliznytsia's efforts to support its team in changing conditions due to external challenges.
