Ukrzaliznytsia Implements New Travel Restrictions for Sumy and Chernihiv Regions

Залізничне сполучення в Україні вводить нові правила подорожей для жителів Сумщини та Чернігівщини.

Railway Schedule Altered Due to Security Concerns

Ukrzaliznytsia, Ukraine's state railway operator, is adjusting passenger train services across several regions, including Sumy and Chernihiv, in response to ongoing security threats. These adjustments are part of broader operational changes affecting national rail traffic. In the Sumy region, regional trains continue to run to and from Konotop, while commuter services are now operating only to and from the Krolevets station.

In the Chernihiv region, all rail service connecting Snovsk and Bakhmach in both directions has been temporarily suspended. Within the Kharkiv region, the section between Lozova, Barvinkove, and Kramatorsk remains a high-risk area. Consequently, passenger transport in the Kharkiv region is being handled via bus detours.

Heightened Security Monitoring in Effect

Enhanced security monitoring also remains in place within the Zaporizhzhia region. Here, rail operations involve either allowing trains to pass under strict control or substituting them with bus transfers. Some routes in the Sumy region have been shortened, terminating at Krolevets station, and connections to Snovsk station are halted.

The press service of Ukrzaliznytsia stated, 'Currently, regional trains are running to/from Konotop, and commuter trains are running to/from Krolevets station. In the Chernihiv region, services on the Snovsk – Bakhmach route and in the opposite direction are temporarily suspended.'

These widespread schedule modifications underscore the volatile situation in parts of Ukraine, particularly in areas near active hostilities. Ukrzaliznytsia is adapting to these challenging conditions by rerouting trains and deploying alternative transport to prioritize passenger safety. These measures are crucial for maintaining the resilience of Ukraine's national transport infrastructure during the ongoing crisis.
